Privacy policy

cyfr.tel answers unwanted calls for you. It is operated by Perkins Enterprises LLC (“we”). This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have. Questions: admin@socom.systems.
What we collect
- Waitlist: your email, name if you give it, and your answers to the sign-up questions.
- Your account: email, name, a scrambled (hashed) password, your cell phone number if you add it, and your settings.
- Your contacts: names and phone numbers you add, upload, mark as “Someone I know” on a call, or sync from your iPhone, used only so people you know reach your voicemail instead of a character. If you turn on iPhone sync, a Shortcut on your phone sends us your contacts once a day; we keep only their names and phone numbers, discard everything else, and each sync replaces the previous synced list. Turn it off on your account page at any time.
- Calls forwarded to your cyfr.tel number: the caller’s number, the time, the caller-ID verification result and why the call went where it did.
- Voicemails: the recording and a written transcript made by cyfrAI.
- Calls a character takes: a recording of the call.
- Your voicemail greeting: the words you choose or a recording of your voice.
- Messages a character takes for you (Pro): the caller’s name, call-back number and message, and the call recording.
- Your own cyfrAI voice (Pro): the recording you make, the consent line you read at its start, a transcript of it, and the cyfrAI voice made from it once we approve it.
- Character requests: what you write when you ask us to build a character.
- Test calls to our demo line (early access): the phone number you add to try the characters, and recordings and transcripts of the calls you make from it to the demo line.
- Payments: your plan and whether your subscription is active. Your card details go straight to our payment processor; we never see or store them.
- Site statistics: what you do on our home page, your device and browser type, and your approximate location, counted without cookies and without storing your IP address (see Site statistics below).
How we use it
Only to run cyfr.tel for you: route your forwarded calls, take messages, show them to you, send you the alerts you ask for, keep the service secure, and answer your questions. We don’t sell your information and we don’t use it for advertising.
Our scam line and screening lists
cyfr.tel runs its own scam line, which our characters answer. If a number calls it and reaches a character, we may add that number to a list that sends its calls to a character for cyfr.tel customers. Our customers, the people in their contacts, and our testers are never put on that list. We also check callers’ numbers against public records: the FTC’s and FCC’s complaint data and the official list of assigned US phone numbers.
Report to FCC
On yearly and Pro plans, the Report to FCC button opens the FCC’s own complaint form in your browser with the call’s details filled in: the caller’s number, the date and time, your number, and a short description of the call written by cyfrAI from its recording or transcript. Nothing is sent to the FCC unless you finish and submit the form yourself. We note when you opened the form so your call list can show it.
Text messages
If you turn on voicemail alerts by text, or tap “Text it to me”, we send texts to the cell number you give us. We use your number only for those alerts. No mobile information will be shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing or promotional purposes, and text-message opt-in data and consent are never shared with any third party. Reply STOP to any cyfr.tel text to stop, or HELP for help. See how the texts work and the text message terms.
Who helps us
We use service providers to run cyfr.tel: a telephone carrier that carries calls and texts, cyfrAI speech and language services that power the characters, voices and transcripts (including making your own cyfrAI voice, if you ask for one), a payment processor, an email delivery service, and our own servers. They handle your information only to provide those services to us. We may also disclose information if the law requires it.
Recordings and publishing
Calls to your cyfr.tel number, the voicemails and messages people leave, and your own cyfrAI voice are never published or shared. Callers who reach a character are told the call is recorded.
Test calls to our demo line
If you add a phone number to try the characters, we keep that number so the demo line recognizes you. Calls you make from it to the demo line are recorded and transcribed like any call our characters answer, linked to your account, and reviewed by us and by cyfrAI to make the characters better. They’re kept out of our scam-call statistics and never published. Remove the number on your account page any time, and email us to have your test recordings deleted.
Your own cyfrAI voice (Pro)
We make a cyfrAI voice from a recording only with the consent you read aloud at its start, and only after we review it. It must be your own voice. We use it only for your own cyfr.tel characters, never for anyone else. Delete it on your account page at any time; that removes the recording and the voice made from it.
How long we keep it
- Voicemails, and messages characters take for you, are deleted after 60 days unless you save them. You can save up to 15, and delete any of them yourself at any time.
- Your own cyfrAI voice and its recording are kept until you delete them or close your account.
- Test-call recordings are kept until you ask us to delete them or close your account.
- Site statistics are deleted after 400 days.
- Other account information is kept while your account is open. Email us to delete your account and everything in it.
- Waitlist answers are kept until launch. Reply to any email from us to have them deleted.
Site statistics
When you visit cyfr.tel’s home page we count page views and what you do on the page: the sections you scroll to, the buttons and links you click, the questions you open, the characters you play, how far you scroll and how long you stay. We never record what you type into a form.
We also note the website or link that sent you (including any campaign tags in it), your device type, browser, operating system, language and screen size, and your approximate location (city, state and country). We look up the location from your IP address on our own server, using a database we keep there (IP Geolocation by DB-IP); your IP address isn’t sent anywhere for this, and we don’t store it.
We don’t use cookies for this. Visitors are counted with an anonymous ID that changes every day. If you join early access, we connect that day’s visit to your sign-up, so for you those statistics are no longer anonymous. We keep site statistics for up to 400 days and don’t sell or share them. If your browser sends Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control, none of this is recorded.
Cookies
We use one cookie to keep you signed in. We don’t use advertising or tracking cookies, and site statistics don’t use cookies. Our pages load fonts from Google Fonts, which sees your IP address when it sends them.
Security
Your account pages and links are encrypted (HTTPS), passwords are stored scrambled, and voicemail links in texts and emails are long random addresses that stop working once you delete the voicemail. You can turn on two-step sign-in, which also asks for a code from an authenticator app; we keep its key encrypted. Password reset links work once and expire after an hour, and we email you whenever your password or two-step sign-in changes.
Children
cyfr.tel is for adults. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If we change this policy we’ll update the date above, and tell account holders by email about important changes.
